Greater Irvine Chamber/Orange County, California
January 7, 2019
The Greater Irvine Chamber is leading a delegation of City officials, business leadership and life science and technology experts returning to the U.K.. We plan to meet with more life science and technology companies that may be exploring expansion into the U.S. and Irvine/Orange County in Southern California specifically. The goal of the mission is to build awareness for Irvine/Orange County and its life science/technology industry strength and identify, connect with and encourage U.K.-based life science companies to look at Irvine/Orange County when they consider expansion into the U.S.
This Foreign Direct Investment mission planned for February 11-15, 2019 follows the successful inaugural February 2017 mission and a follow-up mission in February 2018. During both these missions, the delegation met with a combined 70 U.K. companies, connected with over 150 companies and contacts and established working relationships with very important industry associations.
The Irvine/Orange County Life Science Showcase, held the last week of October in conjunction with OCTANe’s Medical Technology Innovation Forum, attracted over twenty U.K. company CEOs with whom we met and who were invited to experience our innovation ecosystem. Their three day visit included the MTIF conference, tours of Hoag Hospital, UCI Applied Innovation, Edwards Life Sciences, a Mayor’s Dinner, the Irvine Ready! Reception and one-on-one meetings with volunteer experts prepared to assist the companies with taxes, logistics, HR, legal, VISAs and other decision-making criteria in preparation for an expansion to the U.S.
For the 2019 mission, we are proud to continue our collaboration with London & Partners, specifically Mayors’ International Programme initiative, and two of the U.K.’s most prestigious associations in the life science field: One Nucleus and the Association of British Healthtech Industries. The ABHI will be featured with members of our delegation in a Thought Leaders Panel on Wednesday, February 13 planned to take place at London & Partners and One Nucleus has agreed to feature our Irvine Ready! London Bridge Reception as their BIOWednesday event.
The events will feature a brief introduction to the California and Irvine/Orange County life science and healthcare eco-system and technology sectors and the opportunities available to help U.K. companies grow their businesses here.
Four full days of meetings with U.K. companies are being planned and coordinated with OCO Global, London Office.
Individual appointments with the Irvine/Orange County delegation are being scheduled and coordinated by Yassin Nahi with OCO Global firstname.lastname@example.org.
