Greater Irvine Chamber a Lead Partner in Amazon Irvine HQ2 Campaign Delivers Testimony in Front of Irvine City Council
Wednesday, September 27, 2017
By testifying before Irvine City Council during a special session on Sept. 26, Greater Irvine Chamber Vice President of Economic Development & Tourism Linda DiMario expressed the organization’s official support for a bid for Amazon to locate its second headquarters in Irvine.
Citing a public remark made by Irvine Company President Donald Bren, DiMario said that the Chamber agrees, Irvine is “uniquely qualified" to host Amazon HQ2. She expanded on this saying that Irvine was master-planned to be an economic powerhouse, offers an exceptional global reputation and brand, already thriving economy, enviable quality of life, and a global reputation for innovation and success.
The Chamber has collected well over one hundred letters in support of Amazon HQ2, and is collaborating with the City of Irvine and the Irvine Company in an advocacy campaign.
Amazon Irvine HQ2 presents an important opportunity for Irvine and Orange, and its future. Amazon’s proposed multi-year buildup will help this region sustain its multi-generational dynamic, attract and retain talent, sustain the region’s robust economy, and improve the quality of life for millions.
Making huge news, Amazon issued a Request for Proposal early September.
