Veterans Employment Assistance

The Orange County Workforce Investment Board (OCWIB) runs the Veterans’ Employment-Related Assistance Program (VEAP).

OCWIB works with Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network (PGWIN), veteran and community organizations, community colleges, and universities to provide employment and training assistance to qualified veterans towards skills and careers in high-wage, high-demand occupations including subsegments of the emerging clean energy industry and goods movement.

Qualified veterans can access VEAP services at all OCWIB and PGWIN One-Stop locations in Orange County, the City of Long Beach, and surrounding areas.

e-VETS Advisor offers access to more than 11,000 services and resources at the national, state, and local levels. In addition to education, job training, and employment, it provides information on benefits and compensation; family and caregiver support; health; housing; homeless assistance; and transportation and travel. It integrates with the National Resource Directory (NRD), a Web-based index of services and resources collaboratively managed by the Departments of Defense, Labor and Veterans Affairs.

The e-VETS Advisor is one of a series of elaws (Employment Laws Assistance for Workers and Small Businesses) advisors developed by the Department of Labor (DoL) to help employers and employees understand federal employment laws. To learn more about the DoL’s efforts to assist veterans and transitioning service members, visit the VETS Web site.

Veterans and their spouses are a priority group for enrollment into the Workforce Investment Act Program.
